Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Under the direct supervision of the Technical Training Manager , the role of the incumbent will be to drive the design, implementation, governance and continuous improvement of the technical training and skills development framework for KCC's underground mining operations in Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the Technical Training Manager, he or she will work closely with the Underground Mines Management, Technical Services, Engineering and the HSE Department to ensure that all staff and contractors have the required operational qualifications and clearances to work safely. This strategic function aims to strengthen operational capabilities, accelerate workforce readiness, support succession and location objectives while reducing reliance on external skills.

He/she will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive)

Develop the underground training strategy and ensure its operational alignment . This includes the design and implementation of the mine training strategy as well as the annual plan in full alignment with the operational priorities of KCC's underground mine. The incumbent will work closely with management to identify production plans, risks and emerging technologies in order to design tailored skills development programs and anticipate operational readiness for expansions.

Conduct training needs analysis and structure the competency framework . This includes conducting in-depth training needs analyses (TNAs) within underground mining operations and creating role-based competency matrices. The position requires defining clear progression paths, from onboarding and foundational training to operational clearances, while ensuring strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (SWPs), and OEM requirements.

Oversee the delivery of underground technical training in the field. This includes supervising and supervising learning covering all key underground disciplines such as mining, drilling, blasting, mobile machine operation (LHD, jumbos), support management, ventilation and emergency response. The incumbent will ensure that training emphasizes a hands-on, hands-on approach in the field, combining classroom learning, simulation, coaching and rigorous evaluation.

Develop critical skills and workforce readiness. This includes identifying underground roles where skills shortages pose a material risk to security or business continuity, and implementing accelerated but rigorous training paths. The position actively supports localization goals, internal succession, and young talent development programs (apprenticeships, internships, graduate courses) to build sustainable talent pipelines.

Ensure proficiency assurance and issue operational authorizations. This includes the implementation of rigorous practical evaluation, competency verification (VOC) and job shadowing processes to ensure that qualification is not based solely on course attendance. The incumbent will work in synergy with operations to define clearance responsibilities, maintain auditable evaluation records, and apply corrective actions in the event of deviations found.

Manage the training team and strengthen internal expertise. This includes leadership, coaching and professional development of trainers, evaluators and training staff attached to the department. The incumbent will ensure that these trainers maintain impeccable technical credibility rooted in the realities on the ground, while developing future trainers and tutors directly within mining operations.

Integrate safety, risk management and regulatory compliance requirements. This includes anchoring KCC's HSE policies and critical risk controls at the heart of all underground training programmes. The incumbent will jointly analyse incidents, near-misses and audit results with safety to quickly address skills gaps, while ensuring full compliance of the training with applicable mining legislation in the DRC.

Measure performance and drive continuous improvement. This includes defining and monitoring relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), such as timelines to competency, assessment pass rates, enablement rates, as well as the overall effectiveness of trainers and the impact of training on workplace performance. The incumbent will use this data to continuously optimize instructional processes and meet the changing needs of the operation.

Establish strong partnership relationships with internal and external stakeholders . This includes active collaboration with mine managers, technical departments, engineering, maintenance, human resources and operational readiness teams. The incumbent will also coordinate with external suppliers, OEMs and training providers to ensure alignment of learning standards.

Promote operational excellence and the adoption of industry best practices. This includes driving a culture of operational discipline, high performance, and pedagogical innovation within the department. The incumbent will encourage the critical review of existing practices to introduce the best international standards in underground mining training.
