The challenged Ahead

The purpose of this role is leads a team focused on leading engineering strategies, standards and frameworks that ensure the engineering process and design is optimised and enables safe, efficient construction, commissioning and operation. Coaches and develop team leaders / teams to deliver high performance.

• Assesses the impacts of change to develop integrated change management plans, manages change readiness and resistance, and empowers leaders and affected stakeholders in the successful adoption and implementation of change.
• Employs specific or relevant disciplinary engineering knowledge and leadership to meet BHP's technical expectations.
• Performs engineering tasks, verifies construction methodologies, and advises on engineering decisions for projects in alignment with project/construction/commissioning engineering standards.
• Prioritizes work effort and resources accordingly.
• Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk-informed decisions, utilizes BHP's risk management framework, and fosters a risk-aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
• Identifies, engages, and manages a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Determines the root cause of problems and evaluates different solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to resolving complex issues.
• Understands our customer and is passionate about meeting their needs. • It strives for 100% safety and customer value, and 0% waste.
• It leverages the capabilities of members throughout the organization.

What we expect from you

Required: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 20 years of experience in engineering for major capital projects, including at least 5 years in engineering leadership or management roles.
• Position based in Santiago during the engineering phase, with periodic site visits as required. Transition to a site-based Resident Engineer role during the construction phase.
