The Challenge Ahead

Reporting to the Reliability Superintendent, the Specialist Maintenance A&I will play an important role in supporting the long-term reliability, maintainability, and operational readiness of critical mining and processing assets at Jansen.

This is a full-time position with an initial twelve-month assignment supporting the Maintenance Strategy Governance (MSG) team. During this assignment, you will help build the maintenance foundations required to support a successful transition from project delivery to operations. You will contribute to the development of preservation strategies, maintenance programs, reliability models, maintenance master data, work instructions, and spare parts requirements that support safe and efficient operations.

Working closely with engineering teams, operations, maintenance, equipment vendors, and project stakeholders, you will help transform technical requirements into practical maintenance solutions that improve asset performance, reduce risk, and support operational readiness.

Following the initial assignment, you will return to the Mechanical Reliability Engineering team, where you will continue supporting equipment reliability improvement, maintenance strategy optimization, performance analysis, equipment issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both operational readiness and long-term reliability outcomes while helping establish the systems and processes that will support one of the world's largest potash operations.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will

• Develop preservation strategies, maintenance strategies, reliability models, and maintenance programs for mining, processing, and infrastructure assets.
• Facilitate reliability assessments including RCM, FMECA, criticality reviews, and root cause analysis activities.
• Develop preventive maintenance job plans, work instructions, maintenance master data, and spare parts requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, project teams, and equipment vendors to deliver practical maintenance solutions.
• Support maintenance readiness, preservation activities, operational handover planning, and transition-to-operations initiatives.
• Ensure SAP maintenance data supports effective preventive maintenance scheduling, task execution, and ownership of critical controls.
• Assess newly installed equipment and identify opportunities to improve maintainability and long-term asset reliability.
• Support condition monitoring programs, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared inspections, reporting, and corrective action development.
• Coach and support teams in troubleshooting, problem-solving, maintenance best practices, and continuous improvement.
• Complete systems, asset, process, and critical spares audits as required.
• Develop and maintain asset work strategies within the Availability Workbench (AWB) modelling environment.
• What You'll Bring to the Role

You are a maintenance, reliability, or asset management professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working across multiple disciplines, and building sustainable maintenance practices from the ground up. You are comfortable working with technical specialists, vendors, operations, maintenance teams, and project stakeholders to deliver practical outcomes that improve asset reliability and operational readiness.

To be successful in this role, you will bring

A recognized bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering; or a degree, diploma, trade qualification, or equivalent experience in Engineer
