Full Time

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

To effectively manage the electrical maintenance activities at underground operations which include underground electrical reticulation system, dewatering facilities, camp facilities and infrastructure, overhead power lines, power generation, medium voltage tasks, and ventilation.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform electrical fault diagnostics on equipment and other machines to identify faults.
• Attend electrical breakdowns on equipment and machines such as Sandvik drilling rigs Jumbo, Solos and Cubex, and stalker pumps, and replace damaged or faulty parts where necessary.
• Perform checks and tests to verify the success of repair work and ensure machines return to normal operation.
• Assemble and install electrical and electronic systems in the equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure maximum output as per designed standards.
• Co‑operate with stakeholders and assist in coordinating electrical works to ensure equipment is optimized and running efficiently.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring equipment is returned effectively to production with minimum disruption and without compromising product quality or safety.
• Carry out planned maintenance activities in line with maintenance schedules and help develop and maintain schedules in line with requirements.
• Carry out high voltage tasks based on project works.
• Perform all electrical works by following Company safety standards and procedures.
• Comply with organizational and legislative health and safety requirements.
• Carry out additional duties within capability and capacity as required in exceptional circumstances.
• Ensure equipment, tools and machines are in good working order at all times.
• Demonstrate reliability and willingness to work at any time as required by the immediate supervisor.
• Be a team player and utilize full potential while at work.
• Fill all required legal documents and forms and submit them on time to the immediate supervisor for record and compliance.
• ROLE REQUIREMENTS
• Education & Qualification
• Form IV Certificate.
• High voltage training certificate.
• VETA Trade Test Grade One in Electrical or Level Three Industrial Electricity certificate.
• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage.
• Must have a valid Tanzania driving license and driving competency.

Experience

• Three years and above working experience on underground equipment.
• High voltage switching.
• Previous experience in a similar role or time spent working on high voltage electrical equipment installed underground.

Knowledge & Skills

• High voltage electrical knowledge.
• Knowledge of diagnostics tools for electrical fault finding.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.
• Ability to carry out and repair electrical wiring and installation.
• Strong manual skills and precision when carrying out repair and testing.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical PLC systems.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to act as a supervisor when assigned.
• Ability to always demonstrate professionalism in the workplace.
• Committing best endeavours and full capability to the work assigned by the supervisor.
• Advising the supervisor of situations or conditions that could create obstacles to, or opportunities for, the work of the managerial team or company.
