The Opportunity

We are seeking a Geotechnical Technician to join our Geotechnical department at our Tropicana Gold Mine. This role is a fulltime permanent position on an 8/6 FIFO roster. We offer direct flights to site from Perth and Kalgoorlie.

Accountable to the Geotechnical Superintendent, the Geotechnical Technician completes work to support the site mining Geotechnical activities, including routine inspections, scaling and associated activities for final wall signoffs, data collection and data interpretation for blasting activities, monitoring and report compilation for communication of results at daily, weekly and monthly frequencies.

• Displaying active safety leadership including hazard identification and rectification and intervention where necessary to ensure the safety of all employees.
• Provision of accurate information when requested and ensuring awareness of any possible Geotechnical hazards is effectively considered at all times.
• Conducting routine inspections and communicating with various operators.
• Data collection and interpretation from blasting activities.
• Creating daily, weekly and monthly monitoring reports and communication of the results.
• Supervision of wall scaling and associated activities, preparation of scaling plans and supporting documentation for final wall sign-offs including the use of Docusign.
• Data input for monthly crest loss analysis report.
• Assist engineers with scanline mapping.
• Effective maintenance, deployment and troubleshooting of monitoring systems.
• Monitoring installation and data capture including groundwater, prism and radar data and completion of associated reporting.
• Completion of approved Geotechnical project work as assigned in a timely and thorough manner.

The ideal candidate will possess: Experience in mining, quarrying, or similar operational environments.

• Experience leading crews, coordinating contractors, or supervising field based activities.
• Experience with monitoring equipment, data collection, or quality assurance systems.
• Strong safety leadership and a demonstrated commitment to maintaining safe work practices.
• The ability to collect, record, and communicate operational data accurately.
• Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn specialised mining software.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with operators, supervisors, and technical personnel.
• A practical, hands-on approach and a willingness to work outdoors in a mining environment.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts on an 8/6 FIFO roster.
• Current Manual C Class Driver's Licence.
• Permanent Australian work rights.
