The Opportunity Ulan Underground is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Engineering Manager to provide leadership and direction to the site-based engineering team. We are an established, efficient and high production underground longwall coal mining operation in the western coalfields of NSW. With industry experts and state-of-the-art technology, we are leading exporters in thermal coal. Reporting to the Operations Manager the role is a key part of the site’s Senior Leadership Team. Key accountabilities include leading the engineering team responsible for all aspects of asset management and statutory engineering compliance for the operation. You will be responsible for preparing and delivering budget outcomes through an effective engineering and maintenance strategy, team development, best practice mining methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives within a safe working environment. About you A credible and decisive leader who will be a role model for an achievement-oriented work culture focusing on equipment performance and maintenance of fit for purpose assets for an underground coal mine. These skills will be coupled with your ability to deliver continuous equipment availabilities and meet statutory requirements whilst achieving budget outcomes for the mine. Your effective communication, strong influencing and negotiating skills will ensure you develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and lead a high performing team. The successful candidate will have at least five years underground coal mining experience, tertiary qualifications in Electrical or Mechanical engineering and a practising certificate to exercise the key statutory function of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Manager in NSW underground coal mines is essential.
