Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Under the direct supervision of the General Manager Mining , the role of the incumbent will be to lead, optimize and execute all preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies for fixed installations and mobile machines on rails or tyres (TMM) in the underground environment. He or she ensures maximum equipment availability, operational reliability and strict compliance with the company's safety and regulatory compliance standards. By effectively managing the capital (CAPEX) and operating (OPEX) budgets, the manager plays a key strategic role in supporting the continuity and performance of copper and cobalt mining operations.

He/she will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive)

Ensure the safety and regulatory compliance of maintenance operations . This includes the rigorous application of lethal hazard protocols, lockout (isolation) procedures, the work authorization process (ATW) and applicable legal regulations. The manager also leads root cause analysis investigations (5 Whys method, ICAM) following high potential incidents (HPI) and equipment failures.

Drive the asset management of the underground mobile fleet . This includes defining and monitoring maintenance strategies for heavy equipment, such as digging jumbos, production drills, backhoe loaders (LHDs), underground hauling trucks, shotcrete drills (shotcrete) and commercial vehicles, to optimize their life cycle.

Oversee the reliability and integrity of underground fixed infrastructure. This includes coordinating maintenance, testing, and major overhauls of critical assets: extraction shafts and winches, main fans, dewatering pumping stations, decline infrastructure, underground crushers, conveyor networks, skip loading pockets, and electrical distribution networks.

Optimize service planning and backlog management. This includes the use of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS such as SAP PM or AMT) to oversee work order execution, component lifecycle planning, replacement schedules, and maintenance backlog control.

Coordinate the management of multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors. This includes the operational leadership of engineers, mechanics, boilermakers, electricians, supervisors, and planners, as well as overseeing service agreements with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), contractor agreements (SLAs), and cross-departmental collaboration.

Master budget management and cost control . This includes the rigorous formulation and monitoring of annual operating (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets, analyzing parts wear rates, managing spare parts availability, and optimizing inventory holding costs.

To embody and promote the standards of excellence in leadership and corporate culture. This includes uncompromising adherence to the company's values and the active promotion of exemplarity in safety and ethics among all maintenance teams.

Foster local talent development and succession planning. This includes actively supporting the progression of national employees through mentorship, targeted training and succession planning programs for key roles.

Establish clear performance indicators and ensure constructive follow-up . This includes setting specific goals as measured by key performance indicators (KPIs), regularly evaluating individual and collective results, as well as providing constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Guarantee the appropriate level of qualification and training of the teams. This includes the verification of the technical skills of the members of the department for the safe execution of their tasks, as well as the implementation of coaching and continuous training interventions adapted to the needs of the field.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

Hold a relevant degree and/or possess equivalent professional experience and demonstrated technical competencies recognized through our holistic evaluation framework.

Have a minimum of 15 years of maintenance experience in a heavy industrial sector, including at least 5 years of experience in a management or leadership position in mining engineering.

• Previous experience in international mining environments or outside the home country is a valuable asset.
• Fluency in French and/or English is essential to interact effectively with teams and hierarchy; knowledge of Swahili is also considered a positive asset
• Technical skills.

In-depth knowledge of the maintenance of winches and extraction shafts, underground heavy diesel machinery, high-pressure hydraulic systems, high-voltage power distribution, dewatering networks and automated fleet monitoring technologies.

• Proven proficiency in CMMS / CMMS applications (including the SAP PM MODULE, AMT or similar asset management platforms).
• Strong understanding of international best practices in underground mine safety, risk analysis and technical failure resolution.
