Job description

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer , the incumbent will assume overall responsibility for the Finance function and ensure the maintenance of a robust internal control environment. They will guarantee the integrity of the governance and control framework, the quality of financial planning and analysis, the rigor of investment files, and the accuracy and timeliness of statutory and Group reporting . They will provide Management with reliable, relevant, and actionable financial information to support performance, decision-making, and the creation of sustainable value.

He will have to assume the following main responsibilities

  • Ensure the management of the overall performance of the Finance function and develop the capabilities of the teams.
  • Oversee all financial activities, including accounting, planning and analysis, treasury, costing , internal control, statutory reporting and financial systems.
  • Maintain rigorous internal policies, procedures and controls that comply with legal and statutory requirements and Glencore Group standards.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders in the development and execution of mine life plans, annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Produce reliable reports on operating costs, capital expenditures and working capital to support departmental performance management.
  • Manage the monthly closing and ensure the integrity of the general ledger, reconciliation, justification and independent review of balance sheet accounts within the required deadlines.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet analysis and ensure the implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
  • To provide stakeholders with relevant and practical financial analyses, insights and recommendations.
  • Oversee the controls applicable to commercial transactions and contract management.
  • Maintain and uphold the site's internal control framework, including process and control matrices, annual self-assessment of risks, and testing of key financial controls.
  • Ensure proper separation of duties and access to systems, and safeguard the Delegation of Authority so that commitments and payments are approved within the limits of the mandates.
  • Manage the closure of internal and external audit findings and present to the Chief Financial Officer a clear view of the state of controls, major financial risks and mitigation measures.
  • Lead the preparation, financial evaluation and independent review of investment files, including NPV, IRR, payback period and sensitivity analyses.
  • Ensure robust investment governance, from approval to execution, including monitoring of expenditures, changes in scope and costs, and post-investment review.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis, including budgets, forecasts, scenarios, sensitivities and variance analyses, with clear commentary on drivers, risks and corrective actions.
  • Collaborating with operational departments to challenge assumptions about costs, volumes and productivity, identifying cost-saving opportunities and monitoring value improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate, relevant and timely financial reporting , in accordance with statutory, Group and applicable accounting standards requirements.
  • Manage the annual statutory audit and the relationship with external auditors, ensuring the timely preparation, audit and filing of financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations regarding finance, taxation and statutory reporting .
  • Maintain and improve the systems, policies, procedures and standards of the Finance function, and perform any other related tasks assigned by management.

  • Qualifications and experience
  • Hold a postgraduate degree in a business/finance or related field.
  • Hold a postgraduate financial qualification and/or a recognized professional qualification in accounting.
  • An additional degree in management or an MBA is an asset.
  • Candidates must have at least ten (10) years of commercial or financial experience, preferably in the natural resources industry.
  • Having worked in several mining jurisdictions in Africa or internationally.
  • Demonstrate experience in managing large, highly skilled and multicultural teams in a demanding environment.
  • Possess proven experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting in a capital-intensive environment.
  • Demonstrate experience in the design, implementation and testing of internal financial controls as well as in the closing of audit findings.
  • Proven experience in preparing, evaluating and critically reviewing investment proposals and in capital governance.
  • Possess solid experience in OHADA statutory reporting and Group reporting under IFRS, including managing the external audit process.

Technical skills.

  • Excellent command of accounting principles, IFRS standards and the OHADA framework.
  • Solid knowledge of internal control, governance and financial risk management systems.
  • Ability to identify control weaknesses and to conduct corrective measures through to completion.
  • Proficiency in advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario
