Carrapateena is a large, modern underground copper-gold operation and one of South Australia’s most significant mining developments in the past decade. Located approximately 160km north of Port Augusta on the traditional lands of the Kokatha people, Carrapateena combines cutting-edge mining methods with a strong focus on safety, innovation and performance.

We currently have a vacancy for a Reliability Electrical Engineer , reporting to the Senior Engineer – E&I and Control Systems .

The Challenge Ahead

As a Reliability Electrical Enginee r, you will play a key role in supporting the safe, sustainable and reliable performance of electrical assets across Carrapateena’s fixed plant operations. Working as part of a collaborative Engineering and Maintenance team, you will apply your technical expertise to optimise asset performance, improve reliability outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency and operational performance.

This is an opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working closely with operational teams, and driving practical improvements in a dynamic mining environment. What You'll Bring to the Role

You are a collaborative and safety-focused electrical engineer who thrives in an operational environment and is passionate about asset reliability, continuous improvement and delivering practical engineering outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will bring

• An IEAust-recognised degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in operational electrical and instrumentation engineering within heavy industry, processing, mining or a similar environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability, with the ability to analyse multiple data sources and apply structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Sound knowledge of asset management principles and their practical application to improve reliability and performance.
• Experience managing risk, including identifying and controlling material risks associated with electrical assets.
• The ability to provide pragmatic, timely and technically sound advice to operational and maintenance teams.
• Experience delivering engineering projects, plant upgrades and improvement initiatives within a brownfields environment.
• Working knowledge of CMMS, EAM or ERP systems, with SAP experience highly regarded.
• A strong commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will

Support the ongoing reliability, performance and capability of Carrapateena’s fixed plant assets through the application of sound engineering principles and effective decision-making.

• Ensure engineering designs and technical solutions are safe, reliable and fit for purpose while meeting business requirements and compliance obligations.
• Partner with Maintenance Execution teams to improve asset performance, reliability and operational outcomes.
• Identify, assess and manage electrical asset risks, ensuring appropriate controls are implemented.
• Collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines to share knowledge, solve complex challenges and deliver integrated solutions.
• Develop and implement innovative improvement initiatives that enhance safety, cost, throughput and quality performance.
• Coordinate and manage specialist consultants and external service providers where required.
• Support adherence to engineering standards, processes and governance requirements.
• Ensure engineering work is planned, prioritised and executed efficiently.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities, evaluating opportunities and supporting the delivery of prioritised improvements.
• Drive improvements to processes, practices, tools and capability development across the team.
• Ensure all improvements are implemented safely, effectively and with appropriate financial stewardship.

Work Location

This position is based at Carrapateena, South Australia , operating on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster .

With a 60-minute flight from Adelaide and a 30-minute flight from Port Augusta, Carrapateena offers the benefits of site-based work while maintaining strong connections to home. You'll join a close-knit operation where collaboration, innovation and technical excellence are highly valued.
