OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

The Supervisor, CIC-GCS UG is accountable for the monitoring and control of output of the Underground CIC operations and maintenance team to standard through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximise plant availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimise operational risks in order to meet the business strategic objective.

The role is accountable for ensuring the CIC UG refurbishment and later maintenance team delivers safe, productive and efficient operational output, and for coordinating and controlling the refurbishment and maintenance of CIC aspects of the GCS Underground so equipment is maintained to original equipment manufacturer standards and handed over fit for purpose for safe and efficient use.

The role holder monitors team performance against key performance indicators and provides informative and timely reports to management on the performance and status of the maintenance department.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensure compliance with safety leading indicators and work according to total quality management principles, zero defect objectives and safety requirements.
• Lead by example to create a safe working environment where risks are assessed and managed so tasks are performed without risk of injury or harm.
• Use the working elements of the Safety Management System, including inspections, audits and JHA, and ensure compliance individually and across the team.
• Assist with timely investigation of injuries, illness and incidents and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Carry out Planned Task Observations, Major Hazard Standards implementation, positive and hazard observation reporting, and workplace visits and inspections.

Adhere to the site Environmental Management Plan and implement maintenance and operational activities in accordance with Government of Ghana conditions of approvals and the site Aspect Register related to the section.

Coordinate the review of the Aspect Register related to the section.

Gather information for the CIC Supt. Surface & UG for reporting performance.

• Manage team members in line with AGA How we Work guidelines to improve productivity.
• Prepare training and development plans for approval through the Engineering Superintendent Surface E&I and execute approved plans.
• Provide guidance to subordinates in leadership techniques to achieve maximum performance.
• Set CIC requirements within supervisors' skills matrices and initiate corrective action where skill deficiencies are identified and escalated.

Support the CIC Supt. Surface & UG on all CIC works and training activities.

• Conduct periodic audits of all CIC underground infrastructure during refurbishment and maintenance.
• Review refurbishment and later maintenance activities of CIC GCS UG aspects to identify actions for continuous improvement.
• Assist in developing condition monitoring routes and checks for CIC infrastructure equipment.
• Execute refurbishment and later maintenance work checks on a routine scheduled basis.
• Monitor the general physical condition of CIC assets and report on asset status.
• Monitor and ensure preventive and corrective actions are implemented as necessary.
• Generate work requests in SAP for refurbishment and maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis processes for CIC equipment.
• Assist with compilation and updating of SOPs based on new CIC control and network systems for continuous improvement.
• Ensure all CIC personnel in GCS are trained in new or updated SOPs.
• Coordinate and ensure effective implementation of the provisions in LI2182 relating to control, instrumentation and communication.
• Carry out simulations on alterations and additions of relevant CIC equipment and approve same before installation.

Monitor and ensure adequate training sessions are organised with the Engineering Training Coordinator to address identified gaps in CIC work carried out by the GCS underground maintenance team.

• Ensure training is compliant, supports operational requirements of the CIC team and is delivered at optimum cost.
• Provide on the job training for CIC employees in control, communication and network systems and installations in GCS UG areas.
• Ensure OEM and vendor training is carried out for the site operational team for all new or refurbished installations as part of the Redevelopment Project.
• Coordinate with the Training section to provide technical training both internal and external.
• Identify, communicate and implement potential cost reduction initiatives and propose cost saving projects.
• Communicate relevant financial detail to direct reports at the appropriate level to support understanding of budget obligations and goals.
