6 month Fixed Term - 2 positions available

As Fortescue’s Energy Operations portfolio continues to expand, robust risk management and effective critical controls are essential to maintaining safe, reliable and resilient operations. As Risk Adviser, you’ll help strengthen how material risks are identified, understood and managed across a diverse portfolio of power generation, energy storage and high-voltage transmission assets.

Reporting to the Asset Performance Superintendent and working alongside senior engineering and risk specialists, you’ll combine technical analysis with operational insight to define material risks, understand their causes and consequences, and establish the controls required to manage them effectively. Working across Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and other Energy Operations teams, you’ll turn complex operational information into clear, evidence-based risk and control frameworks that support better decisions and sustainable asset performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support delivery of the material risk and critical control workstream within the Energy Operations Asset Management Improvement Plan.
• Undertake detailed analysis to identify and document material risks, causes, consequences, controls and critical controls across operational assets.
• Develop measurable control performance standards and Critical Control Verification requirements for review and approval by accountable stakeholders.
• Engage with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and technical teams to gather asset information, operational knowledge and supporting evidence.
• Assess compliance evidence and control effectiveness, identifying gaps and supporting appropriate actions through to sustainable closeout.
• Develop clear technical documentation and risk outputs that enable risk owners, control owners and technical authorities to make informed, evidence-based decisions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience supporting operational risk, compliance, assurance or control-management activities within resources, utilities or another asset-intensive industry.
• Sound understanding of operational risk management, critical controls, compliance evidence and control-effectiveness principles.
• Strong analytical and process-driven thinking, with the ability to interpret technical and operational information and develop clear risk documentation.
• Effective stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills, with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and technical disciplines.

Tertiary or trade qualification supported by relevant resources or associated industry experience; professional certification in risk, compliance or asset management is highly regarded.

Experience with power generation, battery storage, high-voltage networks or related energy infrastructure is highly desirable.
